Last year’s animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was an unexpected hit. It brought in $375 million worldwide at the box office. In addition, it also won Best Animated Feature at both the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes.  Plus it was a big hit with the hard to please comic book fans, earning a Certified Fresh score on the Tomatometer.

Spider-Verse

Into the Spider-Verse followed a comic book fan favorite, Miles Morales, who becomes the Spider-Man of his reality. In the film Miles crosses his path with five other Spider-Men from other dimensions. Together they try to stop a threat which threatens all their realities. Other dimensions, better known as the Multiverse, is another thing fans are chomping at the bit to see more of. While the movie was not officially part of the MCU canon, fans are eager to see a live action version.

Spider-Verse not ruled out for MCU

Fans have been actively campaigning online for live action version of the film involving all three live-action Spideys together – Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland. During a recent interview with BadTaste.it ex-Sony producer Amy Pascal didn’t deny the chances of a live-action Spider-Verse when asked.

“There are [possibilities], everything is possible.”

Pascal is no longer with Sony and her comments don’t by any means guarantee that it is going to happen.  However, let’s not forget Amy Pascal helped broker the arrangement between Sony and Marvel to get the Spider-Man back in the MCU. Plus, you can never count out the power of fans.  If the buzz on the Internet keeps asking for a live action Spider-Verse, Sony just may see the dollar signs in it and make it happen.

Until then, you can check out Spider-Man: Far From Home in theater now.
