Disney announced earlier today that Obi-Wan Kenobi is the most-watched Disney+ Original series premiere globally to date. Based on hours streamed in an opening weekend, it beat out the likes of The Mandalorian, WandaVision, Loki, Moon Knight, and more. Immediately following Kenobi‘s series premiere launch, Star Wars title viewership on Disney+ tripled in hours watched during opening weekend.

While Disney didn’t provide specific viewership numbers, this is a huge win for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. The series was trending on Twitter all across the weekend and was a huge presence at Star Wars Celebration. It went head-to-head with Stranger Things 4 and Top Gun: Maverick for social media reach. Through all of it, Kenobi likely has a longer social media shelf life due to the weekly release schedule as well.

You can check out our review of Obi-Wan Kenobi here or down below. It was a magnificent start to the series that showed us a more fragile and broken version of a character we all know and love. Ewan McGregor‘s performance was masterful alongside the rest of the cast. You can watch a new episode of Kenobi every Wednesday on Disney+.
