John Malkovich has joined up with Marvel’s First Family. The veteran actor is heading to the MCU for The Fantastic Four in a new mystery role. Deadline was the first with the news, but they’re reporting that his role is under wraps, just like Paul Walter Hauser’s role in the film.

They’ll be joining Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (aka the Thing). In addition, Julia Garner is on board to play Shalla-Bal, a version of the Silver Surfer.

Matt Shakman is on board to direct from a script by Eric Pearson Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. Peter Cameron (WandaVision) has also done some writing on the project. Kevin Feige is producing for Marvel Studios. The film is set to release in theaters on July 25th, 2025.

Malkovich is a busy actor with credits like The New Look, Ripley, Billions, Space Force and he’s in the upcoming Hand of Dante, Opus, and The Yellow Tie.

Pascal is known for his roles on HBO’s The Last of Us and Disney’s Star Wars series The Mandalorian. His recent film credits include starring opposite Nicolas Cage in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and an appearance in the DCEU in Wonder Woman 1984.

Kirby starred in the Netflix hit The Crown as Princess Margaret. She received an Oscar nomination for her role in Pieces of a Woman, and appeared in the most recent Mission: Impossible film, Dead Reckoning Part One.

Quinn’s star power recently rocketed thanks to his standout performance in Netflix’s Stranger Things as Eddie Munson. He’s also slated to appear in the upcoming films A Quiet Place: Day One and Gladiator 2.

Moss-Bachrach is fresh off a recent Emmy win for his role on Hulu’s The Bear. His previous credits include the series Girls, The Punisher, and Andor.
