Chewie and the Porgs
Porgs… taste like space chicken.

Though they are cute, I am not a fan of the Porgs. They felt like they were forced into The Last Jedi to ensure plush toy sales to kids. Since Chewbacca is my all-time favorite Star Wars character, his relationship with them is making them grow on me… just a little… like a colony of E. Coli grows on room temperature beef. However, this new little guy gets me in the feels. I might even be convinced to buy a plush of him. Meet The Rise of Skywalker’s newest character Babu Frik the Droidsmith.

Who is Babu Frik?

We only have one image, but look at this guy. He’s got “I will save the day” written all over his fuzzy little face. There is no doubt he’s a distant cousin of the Mogwi, so don’t get him wet, and never, never feed him after midnight. Starwars.com tells us this about our new alien friend:

“The tiny Anzellan droidsmith, first glimpsed in toy form during the Triple Force Friday livestream event, works among the Spice Runners of Kijimi and can reprogram or modify virtually any droid — regardless of the security measures protecting its systems.”

Sounds like Babu Frik is a bad little IT nightmare for the First Order. Plus, if he’s on Kijimi, he’s likely an acquaintance of Zorii Bliss, who everyone is speculating right now is going to be Rey’s mother. What do you think about that? Is she Rey’s mother?

Zorii Bliss. Is this Rey's mother?

She is touted as an old acquaintance of Poe’s in early info releases. Poe didn’t actually meet Rey until the end of The Last Jedi. Does he know more about her past? It will be interesting to see how all that plays out when The Rise of Skywalker releases on December 20th. Tell us your thoughts on this and all things Star Wars at That Hashtag Show.com!
