Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular anime series right now. It’s not hard to see why either. This anime adaptation of the dark fantasy supernatural horror adventure manga series of the same name by Gege Akutami has been getting rave reviews for its complex narrative and stylish action sequences. Thus, it’s not hard to see why this anime is doing so many collaborations. As it turns out though, one of their most recent collaborations is with the online multiplayer video game Fortnite. Don’t believe me? Then why not check out their “Break the Curse!” trailer below, and see Yuji Itadori and co. take on a whole bunch of…cursed llamas for yourself? Yes, really.

Fortnite x Jujutsu Kaisen Collaboration: Details

When you’re fighting in Jujutsu Kaisen, you need to have those glowing blue hands.

Fortnite is proud to announce its collaboration event with the anime Jujutsu Kaisen. To clarify though: this “Break the Curse!” collaboration event is specific to Fortnite Battle Royale, not to any of the other 2 game modes. Said event will last only until August 25, 2023; so if you want to take part in it, you might want to hurry up. As for what this event consists of? Well, you can check them out below:

Yeah, that’s an evil llama pinata. No, I have no idea where it came from.

Cursed Llamas are roaming on the Island — break one and it’ll drop two cursed techniques: Straw Doll Technique and Hollow Technique: Purple.

You’d think it’d be easier to just shoot them from a bow or something, but what do I know?

The Straw Doll Technique is simple: just aim at your target, and your character hits a nail with a hammer to shoot it. Each nail looks like it does a lot of damage, but you only get 3 of them per llama. Thus, you might want to conserve your ammo and be sure of the shots you take.

Blue is the color of exorcists, I see.

The Hollow Technique: Purple is a bit more vague in how it works. The video shows it as a wide-spread ranged attack that affects all targets within its area of effect. According to Fortnite though, the attack can erase entire buildings in its path and deals damage of time effects to all enemies in its path. Seems a bit overpowered, but perhaps it will have hidden drawbacks that limit it? We’ll just have to see.

And now for your rewards. Or rather, potential rewards.

Completing Break the Curse! Quests will earn you Cursed Energy. You can use the Cursed Energy as in-game currency to purchase cosmetic and level up rewards. These rewards include emotes and clothes for Yuji Itadori.

Got to admit: that sweatshirt does look comfy.

One last thing though: the Break the Curse! Quests will be unlocked sequentially each week. The quests start at Grade 4, and go all the way up to Grade 1. Grade 4 Quests and Grade 3 Quests are live as of this writing. Here’s the list of other Grades and when they’ll go live:

  • Grade 2 Quests go live August 15 at 9 AM ET.
  • Grade 1 Quests and Special Grade Quests go live August 17 at 9 AM ET.

Jujutsu Kaisen Cup

Okay, what is that boxing glove monkey thing?

The Jujutsu Kaisen Cup starts on August 11, 2023. Apparently, this is a Duos Zero Build tournament where you can compete to be among the top point-earning players in your region, unlocking the Good Boy Kon Emoticon. If your duo gets three eliminations in the tournament, your jujutsu sorcery skills will be rewarded with the Gojo’s Eye Emoticon. Everyone who participates gets Yuji’s Training Spray as a participation prize, so there’s something for everyone.

Item Shop

Within this Jujutsu Kaisen collaboration, you can find new clothes in the Item Shop that lets you change your look to be one of 3 other Jujutsu Kaisen characters. The characters are:

NOBARA KUGISAKI

He kind of looks like Kakashi but if he covered both eyes.
