Netflix‘s Castlevania (2017-2021) is one of the most successful animated adaptations of a video game series in history. For good reason, mind you. With its combination of dark fantasy, horror, and melodrama; it made for a very good adaptation of the Konami video game franchise. So you can easily see why Netflix would want to make a sequel to it. Rumors of said sequel have swirled around for a while. However, now we finally have official confirmation of its existence in the form of a new teaser trailer for that sequel. Its title? Castlevania: Nocturne. Don’t believe me? Then why not watch that teaser trailer below, and see how the happy ending from the original series gets its override in this sequel for yourself?
Castlevania: Nocturne ~ Teaser Trailer Details
Netflix is proud to unveil Castlevania: Nocturne with that official teaser trailer above on YouTube. As you can tell by my previous remarks, said teaser trailer reveals that the Belmonts get quite a bit of a happy ending override in this sequel/spin-off by showrunners Kevin Kolde (Castlevania) and Clive Bradley (Trapped). Especially since the trailer mentions that Richter Belmont (voiced by Edward Blumei) is literally the last of his family. Seemingly due to a vampire slaughtering said family in front of him. Can you say “childhood trauma conga line”?
So when can we find out just how messed up Richter is? Well, at the end of that teaser trailer, it reveals that Castlevania: Nocturne will make its Netflix debut on September 28, 2023. As you might expect though, this will be a Netflix exclusive. Thus, you will need a paid Netflix subscription to watch this sequel.
Bonus: Synopsis
That’s not all, folks. Netflix has an official synopsis for Castlevania: Nocturne for us today to tease us a bit more about the story. You can enjoy it below:

In a remote part of western France, the counter-revolutionary aristocracy has forged an alliance with a terrifying Vampire Messiah, who promises to ‘eat the sun’ and unleash an army of vampires and nightcreatures to crush the revolution and enslave humanity. Annette, a sorceress from the Caribbean, seeks out Richter Belmont, last descendant of the long-fabled family of vampire hunters, to lead the resistance.
