As it turns out, Twisted Metal is getting a TV adaptation. This is one video game series I would not have expected a live-action TV adaptation from, but we’re getting it. How do I know this? Well, it’s mostly due to the new exclusive first look trailer Peacock just released. It even features a pair of character fans of that vehicular combat video game franchise of the same name might readily recognize. Don’t believe me? Then why not watch that first look trailer for yourself below, and maybe you even find it funnier than I did.

Twisted Metal: Questionably Funny Details?

The humor here certainly is…interesting.

Peacock is proud to give us a sneak peek of their upcoming Twisted Metal live-action TV adaptation with that first look trailer above on YouTube. Said trailer shows off a video clip apparently taken directly from the series. It seems like it’s from pretty early on in the series, but not quite at the very beginning. Even on that though, we’re not quite certain.

What we are certain of is that this first look trailer for Twisted Metal prominently features our 2 main characters. The first is John Doe as played by Anthony Mackie (Eagle Eye, The Hurt Locker, Captain America: Winter Soldier). The second is Sweet Tooth as played by Samoa Joe (Dota 2, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League), but weirdly enough voiced by Will Arnett (Arrested Development, BoJack Horseman, Ratatouille). The latter is rather odd. Why did Peacock feel the need to dub over Samoa Joe’s voice, and basically not let him voice his own character? Was he just that unfunny? Unfortunately, we have no word from Peacock as to why this is the case. The only solid thing we have from Peacock is when we’ll get to see if this pans out.

According to that first look trailer, Twisted Metal will make its debut on July 27, 2023. As you might expect though, it’s a Peacock exclusive. Thus, you will need to subscribe to them if you want to see if this is the next The Last of Us.

Bonus: First Look Images

That’s not all, folks! Not only does Peacock have a first look trailer for us, but they also have some first look images of Twisted Metal to tease us with. You can check them out below:
