From Flight Attendant to… true crime toilets? There’s a lot to unpack with this one. Kaley Cuoco has been announced as the lead in the upcoming Peacock series, Based On A True Story.

A dark comedic thriller inspired by a bizarre true event, Based On A True Story is about a realtor, a plumber and a former tennis star whose lives unexpectedly collide, exposing America’s obsession with true crime, murder and the slow close toilet seat.

Cuoco will play a married woman named Ava Bartlett.

All other details about the project are being kept under wraps. So, for now, you’ll have to puzzle out Cuoco’s connection to true crime and toilets on your own.

Based On A True Story comes from Emmy-nominee Craig Rosenberg (The Boys, LOST, Preacher). Rosenberg will serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer on the series. Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan, and Roxie Rodriguez also executive produce under Aggregate Films.

Cuoco has ventured into the comedic mystery/thriller genre before, leading the HBO Max series The Flight Attendant. The role landed her two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She voices Harley Quinn in HBO Max’s animated series, which is currently airing its third season. And of course, she played Penny in the CBS hit The Big Bang Theory for 12 seasons.

Peacock did not reveal a potential release date for Based On A True Story. So, check back to THS for more updates.
