Well, it looks like either Jak and Daxter fan and Spider-Man star Tom Holland let something slip in his interview, or the director of Uncharted has the best timing ever. Either way, it looks like we’re going to see our favorite Naughty Dog platformer duo in action on the big or small screen one of these days.

Ruben Fleischer: Your Timing Couldn’t Be Any More Perfect

On top of giving us Nathan Drake on the big screen for us to boot.

During an interview with Digital Trends to promote Uncharted, director Ruben Fleischer revealed that he’s working on a Jak and Daxter project. He doesn’t reveal much, and what little he reveals doesn’t tell us much. However, it is something worthy of hyping up for because it’s official. His exact (and only) words are as follows:

“I’m actually working on Jak and Daxter, a version of that, for PlayStation, which I think would be really cool to bring to life.”

So no word of what this Jak and Daxter adaptation will entail. No hint of whether it’s live-action or animated. Definitely no release date. However, it is official news though, so we know it’s coming. Now all that’s left to do is to speculate.

Jak And Daxter: The “Really Weird” Live-Action Film Tom Holland Wants?

"Jak 3" box art, showing Jak and Daxter standing against a postapocalyptic wasteland.
Probably what will happen if Tom Holland gets his wish.

The timing of this Jak and Daxter adaptation announcement couldn’t be any more perfect, considering Tom Holland‘s previous statements. For some background info: Tom Holland recently did an interview in which he stated that he wanted to do a Jak and Daxter film one of these days. He’d want to play as Jak, of course. However, he also wanted to make it “really weird”, with an A24-type dark weirdness to it. Very odd, but hey, it’s how he likes it. Who’s to judge?

This is just speculation here, but it’s entirely possible that Tom Holland may have accidentally let something slip in that interview. Maybe this Jak and Daxter adaptation really will be a live-action film. One that’s really weird and dark on top of it. If so, we can probably expect something like Jak 3 above. We might very well get a fantasy Mad Max film, but starring Naughty Dog’s platformer duo. All this though, is again, pure speculation until we get official confirmation. Take it with as many grains of salt as you like.
