The TIFF (Toronto Film Festival) Official Selection from South Africa, Good Madam (Mlungu Wam) is heading to Shudder. The film from Director/Writer Jenna Cato Bass and co-Writer Balbawa Baartman streams on the horror service in late 2022.

In Good Madam (Mlungu Wam), Tsidi, a single mom, is forced to move in with her estranged mother Mavis, a live-in domestic worker caring obsessively for her catatonic white ‘Madam’ in an affluent Cape Town suburb. As Tsidi tries to heal her family however, a sinister specter begins to stir.

Good Madam (Mlungu Wam) stars Chumisa Cosa, Nosipho Mtebe, Kamvalethu Jonas Raziya, Sanda Shandu, Khanyiso Kenqa, Sizwe Ginger Lubengu, Siya Sikawuti, Peggy Tunyiswa and Chris Gxalaba.

Craig Engler, Shudder General Manager had this to say about the film:

Jenna Cato Bass delivers a sensationally fresh take on the haunted house story while layering in cutting social satire about the lingering horrors of apartheid.

It sounds like a fantastic haunted house/commentary. Hopefully, Good Madam can latch on to an audience with its new home on Shudder!

So, are you excited to see Good Madam?

We’ll have to see just how good Good Madam (Mlungu Wam) is when it releases later this year, or if you’re lucky, at the Glasgow Film Festival.
