You know that Sony just announced the new Horizon Call of the Mountain video game for the upcoming PlayStation VR2, right? Well, as it turns out, someone pretty high up on the food chain has really high hopes for it. Even better, he’s a former PlayStation developer.

High Hopes, Or Wishful Thinking?

Well, someone sounds really optimistic. Then again, it is Guerilla Games we’re talking about here, so…

Chris James here is a former Guerilla Games developer who worked on world design for the soon-to-be-released Horizon Forbidden West. Thus, his opinion on Twitter probably deserves a bit of notice here. Admittedly, James admits in his post that he didn’t personally work on Horizon Call of the Mountain. However, what he does say seems pretty promising, if a bit vague. Here it is for those of you who can’t view the Twitter post above for some reason:

“This is been in the works for a while. I didn’t work on it, but I promise you this will change what AAA means for VR. It’s amazing.”

Horizon Call of the Mountain: The Breakout Game For VR?

Horizon Call of the Mountain logo.
Great logo, but that doesn’t tell us much.

While Chris James’ words does raise our expectations for Horizon Call of the Mountain, it ultimately doesn’t tell us much. That first sentence seems to suggest that Guerilla Games and Firelight have been planning this VR game for a while, but not much beyond that. While that does hint that we’ll get something interesting, hints are all we have at this point. That, and the teaser from earlier.

Tallneck: showing us that nonaggressive doesn’t mean harmless.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if Chris James’ hopes for Horizon Call of the Mountain bear fruit when we finally get to see it. Someday.
