Disneyland is apparently getting quite ambitious. It seems that not only do they want to reopen the theme park by April, they want to debut the Avengers Campus in the same year.

A very empty Disneyland.
A bit empty, but apparently not for long.

This bit of news came to us from the Walt Disney Company’s 2021 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, courtesy of Comic Book. It seems that, for a very obvious reason, Disneyland hasn’t been doing so well. In fact, all of Disney’s theme parks have reported record numbers of customers, but in the opposite direction. No one wants to attends a theme park when there’s a pandemic going around, after all.

Thus, that’s why Disney is going to reopen Disneyland in sometime in late April of 2021. They’re timing it with the Spring Break and the start of mass vaccinations. Not to mention, people are just getting tired of being holed up in their homes. Disney is definitely taking advantage of that sentiment. Although, there’s still no specific reopening date. Not to mention, it’s unclear if Disney are being a bit too optimistic even about the late April reopening. We’ll just have to see what happens in the coming months.

Something to look forward to this year. Hopefully.

The other bit of potentially exciting news is that Disneyland really wants to debut Avengers Campus by 2021. For a quick summary: Avengers Campus is a planned expansion to the Disneyland theme parks in Disney California Adventure, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland. As the name suggests, this will be a Marvel Cinematic Universe-themed attraction. The park will even take place in an alternate universe from the film continuity, where the events of Infinity War never happened. It’s an interesting premise, really.

Hmm, alternate history theme park. I like it.

Unfortunately, the debut date for Avengers Campus is even more vague than the Disneyland reopening. We only know that it will happen “later” in 2021. After the theme park reopening. Other than that: nothing more. We’ll just have to await official news from Disney later.

Conclusion

Disney really wants to reopen the Disneyland theme parks in late April 2021. Not only that, but they even want to debut Avengers Campus later in the same year. Is it overly optimistic of Disney? Well, we’ll just have to see in the coming months.
