I can hardly stand it! Bridgerton announced today that season 3 of the hit series has begun filming. Romancing Mr. Bridgerton is my 2nd favorite book in the series. So, when Netflix announced they would be moving Polin’s story from season 4 to season 3 I was both torn and ecstatic. I mean, An Offer From A Gentleman is my favorite.
That’s okay, with this season 3 announcement we see Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) get into a carriage. If you’re a book reader…you know what should happen next.
BRIDGERTON SEASON 3 – WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR
Season 2 of Bridgerton strayed a lot from the source material. So, as far as what to expect from season 3, only time will tell. However, we do know a few things. Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. This moment causes her to decide that it’s time to take a husband. The goal is to find one that will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But it seems, that Penelope’s low self-esteem causes her attempts at the marriage mart to fail spectacularly.
Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a “new look and a serious sense of swagger”. Y’all – I don’t think we’re ready. Anywho. It seems that Colin will be upset when he realizes that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder. As she should, am I right?
Here’s where the synopsis for season 3 strays super far from the source material. Colin, in order to try and win back Pen’s friendship, offers to mentor her in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. However, his lessons start working a little too well. So, Colin must figure out his feelings for Penelope. Are they truly just friendly? We all know the answer to this.
But, it wouldn’t be Bridgerton without a few more complications. One, Penelope rift with Eloise (Claudia Jessie). As well as, Penelope’s growing presence in the ton makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.
NEW CAST MEMBERS FOR SEASON 3
Daniel France (Stay Close), Sam Phillips (The Crown), and James Phoon (Wreck) are joining the cast this season. But who are these new gentlemen? France will play Marcus Anderson, A charismatic presence who lights up any room he enters, attracting the notice of certain matriarchs in the ton — and the ire of others.
Phillips portrays Lord Debling, a genial lord with unusual interests. But with wealth and a noble title to back up his eccentricities, he’ll have no shortage of interest from young ladies this season. And Phoon plays Harry Dankworth, a daft gentle who makes up for his lack of wit and intelligence, with seriously good looks.
There’s no official release date for Bridgerton Season 3 just yet, but we at THS will keep you posted!
