Well, it looks like Disney is reopening their Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World Resort. That’s the good news. Now for the bad news.
WDW News Today has just announced on June 28, 2021 that their Polynesian Village Resort will finally reopen on July 19, 2021. After well over a year after closing due to a certain pandemic, all guests will now be able to enjoy this faux Pacific Island paradise on that day. However, that good news has a bit of bad news mixed in.
The first bit of bad news about the Polynesian Village Resort is that the front desk will move from Pago Pago back to Great Ceremonial Hall. Normally, this would be good news. However, WDW News Today also mentioned that the main entrance itself will not be open. It’s a bit of a bummer for all you who want to walk underneath it. It’s not just that though. The second bit of bad news is the distinct lack of a Monorail.
Polynesian Village Resort: For Want of a Monorail?
To be fair, it’s not like Disney is abandoning the Polynesian Village Resort Monorail entirely. They do actually want it back up. In fact, the closing is for a refurbishment of the whole Monorail. It’s just that those refurbishments won’t be ready in time for the grand reopening, so they decided not to wait for it.
So when will that Monorail be ready? No idea. Disney has so far given no reopening date for that Monorail. Not even a tentative one. In the meantime, guests will get to the resort using the Magical Express buses Disney is so proud of. We’ll just have to wait for Disney to give us more news about this later.
Conclusion
Disney will finally reopen their Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World theme park on July 19, 2021. However, there will be no Monorail. At least, not yet. Guests will have to take the bus in the meantime. This is definitely looking like a rushed reopening here. Hopefully, this doesn’t become as bad as the Stir-Fried Noodles Incident at ‘Ohana.
