When you are talking about publishing in Japan, then Kodansha is one of the biggest names in the business. Founded in 1910 as a spin-off of the Dai-Nippon Yūbenkai (大日本雄辯會, “Greater Japan Oratorical Society”) by Seiji Noma, this publishing company is now one of the biggest names in the manga industry. As of this writing, they publish a variety of manga magazines in Japan, which includes Nakayoshi, Afternoon, Evening, Weekly Shōnen Magazine, and Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine. They have even long since expanded overseas to NA markets. You can even check for yourself by looking at some of the biggest manga titles on the market. Attack on Titan, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and Fairy Tail? All of those manga series bear Kodansha’s logo on them. You yourself might have noticed them as you were reading those manga volumes.

Thus, you can now understand why Kodansha sponsoring this year’s Script2Comic Contest is a big deal.

Kodansha is proud to announce that they now have a premiere sponsorship for the 2024 edition of the Script2Comic Contest. What does this mean, you might ask? Well, this means that not only will the winners of this contest be published in the USA by AMP Comics, but they also have the potential to be published as manga in Japan. Not only that, but the winning entries might even get an actual anime adaptation. If that doesn’t excite you, then you might be in the wrong business.

Fortunately, Kodansha has some choice words to say about this sponsorship just for the hype, courtesy of Yohei Takami, Director of the Rights Media Business Division of Kodansha. You can read his words below:

As a leading publisher in Japan, we are excited to see the innovative and inspiring works that will emerge from this collaboration and look forward to bringing the winning entries to readers around the world.
