Dredge by developer Black Salt Games is one of the most interestingly odd indie games in existence. At its core, it’s basically a fishing game. However, the more you play it, the more you realize that it’s also a prime example of Lovecraftian horror. This rather strange combination has earned this game quite a bit of acclaim from critics and gamers alike. Thus, you can understand why it’s getting a new DLC expansion in the form of “The Pale Reach.” Don’t believe me? Dredge: The Pale Reach ~ Details
Publisher Team17 is proud to announce Dredge: The Pale Reach via that trailer above on YouTube. This will be an expansion to the base game, adding an entirely new biome to the game map. You can make a journey to that frozen new biome at any point in the base game, even right from the start if you so wish. Although with the new threats there (including what looks like a giant walrus-narwhal thing), you might want to think about that a bit before going through with it.
Along with the new arctic biome in Dredge: The Pale Reach though, there will be a bunch of new stuff to play around with. This includes 11 new species of fish to catch, and 4 new pieces of equipment to catch them with. Of course, you will need an icebreaker add-on to your ship to fully navigate the pack ice of this new biome. However, the blocks of ice that extend the shelf life of your caught fish might be worth the effort.
So when will we be able to journey into this frozen seascape? Well, Dredge: The Pale Reach will launch on November 16, 2023. You can purchase this DLC and the base game on PC for either Steam or GOG, PS4 or PS5, Xbox One or Xbox Series S/X, or Nintendo Switch.
