Ever wanted to explore the world of SpongeBob SquarePants in Minecraft form? Well, previously, you could do so with mods. Now though, it seems that the developers have taken the hint, and made Bikini Bottom into an actual DLC. Check out the official trailer below:

A Blatantly Blocky Bikini Bottom

I never realized that SpongeBob could get more square than he already is.

Minecraft recently announced their new SpongeBob SquarePants DLC via that official trailer above on YouTube. Said trailer shows off not only a blocky version of Bikini Bottom itself, but also features the various characters like SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward in block form. We also get a sampling of the various activities available for players of the DLC, including an almost-shooter game involving SpongeBob firing (or rather, flinging) Krabby Patties at a horde of hungry anchovies. Just like in the pilot episode, no less.

The SpongeBob SquarePants DLC for Minecraft launched on July 26, 2022 from Spark Universe. You can purchase it directly from Minecraft‘s official website. Note that you do need the base game in order to play this DLC, as you might expect. Thus, you’re going to need to purchase said base game if you haven’t already done so, which you can also do from the game’s official website. Also, note that while the DLC will include a Character Creator item in the dressing room for free, this item will only be available from July 26, 2022 to September 27, 2022. If you want this item, then you might want to hurry and get this DLC.

Minecraft: Details

Blocks, blocks everywhere!

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past decade: Minecraft is an open-world sandbox survival adventure game developed and published by Swedish developer Mojang, with Xbox Game Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment publishing the game for their respective consoles Like Xbox One and PS4. Markus Perssen and Jens Bergenstein designed the game, with Markus Toivonen and Jasper Boerstra as the artists. C418 (aka: Daniel Rosenfeld) composed the music. The game was originally for PC only, but since then has been ported to mobile devices and various consoles.

As for what Minecraft is about? Well, the open-ended nature of this game makes a synopsis difficult. However, there is a synopsis for the SpongeBob SquarePants DLC on the official website. Check it out below:

“Are you ready, kids? It’s time to join your favourite under-the-sea chums on an adventure in Minecraft! Visit Bikini Bottom and help make today the BEST DAY EVER for SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, and friends. Complete with 40 skins. Created by Spark Universe.”
