Shonen Jump fans might be aware that the military science fantasy action-adventure manga series Kaiju No. 8 by Naoya Matsumoto is getting an anime adaptation. However, did you know that said anime just released a bunch of new visuals for the main characters? All just to promote the equally as brand new PV trailer? Don’t believe me? It’s rather refreshing to see men and women wearing the same uniform in a military/paramilitary organization.

The official Twitter account of Kaiju No. 8 has just released a pair of new promotional character visuals. You can see one of them above. The visual shows all the main characters of the manga and upcoming anime in very action-packed poses, looking like they’re ready to do battle with Godzilla. From left to right, we have Kikoru Shinomiya (voice actress unknown), Reno Ichikawa (voiced by Wataru Kato), Kafka Hibino (voiced by Masaya Fukunishi), Soshiro Hoshina (voice actor unknown), and Mina Ashiro (voiced by Asami Seto).

Believe it or not, this guy can give Godzilla a run for its money.

The second Kaiju No. 8 character visual is the one above, also from the anime’s official Twitter account. The visual displays, believe it or not, Kafka Hibino’s kaiju form as the eponymous Kaiju No. 8. As you can see, he strikes quite the imposing figure. But while he looks monstrous, he fully retains his human mind. Thus, it makes him perfect for taking on the kaiju, and he’ll be taking on a lot of kaiju.

In a world plagued by threatening creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino aspired to enlist in the Japan Defense Force to defeat them.

“Let’s wipe out the Kaiju together.”

Kafka pledged to his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Over time, life circumstances forced them to go their separate ways and caused him to abandon his lifelong ambition.

He found himself employed by Monster Sweeper, Inc., a professional cleaning company that specializes in cleaning up the aftermath of Kaiju battles. Meanwhile, Mina Ashiro is now the Captain of the Defense Force’s 3rd Division. As it stands, he is currently unworthy of fighting Kaiju alongside her.

At work, Kafka crosses paths with the highly motivated Reno Ichikawa. Reno’s undying determination to join the Defense Force leaves no room for failure. His perseverance reawakens Kafka’s ambition of standing next to Mina as they protect humanity from Kaiju together.

A dream frozen by time, thawed by a burning promise.

But Kafka doesn’t know that an imminent Kaiju threat is unexpectedly approaching him.
