Spy x Family Ch. 83 gives us a showdown between Loid and Yuri, However, the stakes this time are far higher than the usual comedy around Yor, and thus the fight itself is far deadlier. Honestly, it looks like whoever wins this fight, it will still be a loss either way for them.

Spy x Family Ch. 83: Plot Summary
Spy x Family Ch. 83 picks up directly where we last left off in the previous chapter. Loid/Twilight (disguised as Yuri) and Yuri (the real one) encounter each other in the sewers simultaneously, each with their pistol drawn. Both get their first shots off simultaneously as well. Loid shoots Yuri’s pistol out of his hand, seeking to avoid harming him because he knows him. Meanwhile, Yuri shoots Twilight in the arm, presumably because you can’t question a dead man for intel, and then kicks the pistol out of Loid’s hand.
Now the two of them are evenly matched. At least, that’s what Loid thinks. As it turns out, all of Yor’s lethal cooking skills and clumsiness with her superhuman strength while raising Yuri has given him zombie levels of resilience. Loid is clearly more skilled than Yuri in combat, but it seems like Yuri is determined to keep getting up no matter what kind of punishment Loid keeps inflicting on him. Even Loid starts to be a little freaked out when he whacks Yuri in the head with a lead pipe and he still won’t go down…but then he goes down anyways. Loid contemplates finishing Yuri off, but ultimately decides against it as a semi-conscious Yuri apologizes to Yor. Tossing the pipe into the water, Loid continues on his way. While also continuing to buy time for his fellow WISE agents to find “Wheeler” to boot.
WISE: No Time to Waste
Meanwhile, WISE are having no luck trying to track down “Wheeler”. So instead, they try to lure him out by having an agent disguise himself as a SSS agent named Gascoigne, and then have obvious WISE agents tail him. The plan is to use the abrupt maneuvers “Gascoigne” makes as if trying to shake off his tails to make out “Wheeler” when he takes the bait and follows the SSS agent. Unfortunately, “Gascoigne” has no idea if “Wheeler” has taken the bait. Thus, they go to Plan B: have the tail crash into street post in an “accident”. The “accident” is designed to draw the eye of everyone in the area, but someone tailing someone can’t afford to lose sight of their tailee. Thus, whoever immediately looks back at “Gascoigne” is either a fellow WISE agent or “Wheeler”.
It’s Nightfall who makes out “Wheeler” in the crowd. He’s good, keeping his face aimed at the crashed car while looking at a reflection in a nearby building to keep track of his tail. Only his not dark enough sunglasses gives him away to Nightfall. It results in “Wheeler” trying to flee the scene, only for the WISE agents to corner him, with Nightfall now poised for a 1 on 1 duel with “Wheeler”. Who will win in this clash of elite spies? Well, we’ll just have to find out in the next chapter of Spy x Family.
Spy x Family Ch. 83: The Good
As you might guess: the spy action and spy drama in Spy x Family Ch. 83 is the highlight of this chapter. Honestly, this entire arc so far feels like it could’ve come straight out of a James Bond film, but with a lot more emotional depth to it, thanks to Loid and Yuri’s relationship. It’s basically James Bond if it was a serialized TV series rather than a collection of kinda sorta related films. This entire arc will definitely be a treat for James Bond fans.
Even just for Spy x Family fans, we finally get a clash of will and strength between Loid and Yuri. Nothing held back, except on Loid’s part. Even then though, he has a very good in-universe reason for not wanting to kill his wife’s beloved younger brother. He seems to be rather fond of Yuri despite how much he annoys him. This clash of characters makes this chapter one of the great ones in this already great manga.
Spy x Family Ch. 83: The Bad
Honestly, my one complaint about Spy x Family Ch. 83 is that is leaves off on one heck of a cliffhanger. With Nightfall and “Wheeler” poised to do battle to boot. Still, it’s a pretty minor complaint, since it looks like we’ll be getting an epic battle in the next chapter.
