Dan Trachtenberg seems to be quite the filmmaker. With films such as 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) and Prey (2022) under his belt along with TV series like the pilot episode of The Boys and an upcoming Waterworld TV adaptation, he seems to be experiencing quite the meteoric rise in his directing career. Thus, it’s really no surprise that Netflix is asking Trachtenberg to direct an episode of one of their most popular shows to date: Stranger Things. Specifically: the upcoming season 5 of this hit science fiction horror mystery drama series.

He looks ready to direct some more horror.

Netflix Tudum has just revealed that acclaimed director and podcast host Dan Trachtenberg will be directing an episode of the upcoming fifth season of Stranger Things. This will also be the series’ final season. So clearly, they want to go out with a bang.

Unfortunately though, there’s no solid lead about which Stranger Things season 5 episode Dan Trachtenberg will direct. We know that there will be 8 episodes in this final season. However, there’s not a peep about which of those 8 episodes Trachtenberg will direct. Given his filmography though, it’s entirely possible that he might get to direct the very first episode. You know, like what he did with the pilot episode of The Boys? It would certainly be an honor for him, as well as propelling his name to fame.

Unfortunately, this is just speculation for now until we hear any official word from Netflix on this matter. Take it with as many grains of salt as you like. Tune back in to THS later to find out more about Dan Trachtenberg’s involvement with Stranger Things or even Stranger Things season 5 in general (especially on the issue of its debut date) when we do.
