Netflix’s smash hit Stranger Things will end with its upcoming fifth season. But the overall universe of The Upside Down will live on. Apparently, the streamer plans to develop an animated Stranger Things series.

The currently untitled project will take place within the Duffer Brothers’ Stranger Things universe. The Duffers will executive produce the series, along with Eric Robles on behalf of Flying Bark Productions and Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen on behalf of 21 Laps.

“We’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling,” said the Duffer Brothers in a statement. “We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues.”

So far, we don’t have more details about this series. So, we don’t know if the animated show will serve as a prequel or sequel to Stranger Things, or if we can expect any familiar characters to make the jump to animation.

You can stream the first four seasons of Stranger Things on Netflix now.
