Po is back in a brand new Kung Fu Panda series on Netflix. Today we get the news that Netflix and DreamWorks are teaming. They will be bringing us more fists of fury In Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight.
How It All Started
Taking advantage to share the news, Jack Black shares he will be reprising his role as the fierce lovable Panda, Po. It should be noted, Jack Black is the voice behind the cuddly mask that is Po. He has been voicing Po since the first-ever Kung Fu Panda film in 2008. Spanning two sequels and a TV series, we have seen a lot of Po. But, who’s complaining we all love that Panda.
As you may know, Po is a Panda who wants to learn Kung Fu. He soon learns he is actually the prophesied Dragon Warrior and through all the odds becomes good at it. Following the first film, we follow Po’s adventures of trying to keep his family and village safe. Oh, and his motivation to become said warrior is food. So, basically my spirit animal.
What We Know So Far
Although not much is known as of now, we do know that about this new series. What we do know is that it follows Po as he leaves his home when a couple of weasels set their sight on four powerful weapons. We follow along on his journey of redemption and justice. Along the way, he pairs up with a no-nonsense knight that goes by Wandering Blade. These completely opposite personalities must work together to find the weapons first. And, who knows maybe learn something from one another.
What I Predict
Now as someone who actually enjoys watching Po, yes even as an adult, I am pretty excited. See, I love Jack Black, and seeing him as Po is basically seeing him in Panda form. Po is such a clumsy lovable Panda who always tries to do the right thing that ends in mayhem. He means well but somehow always ends up in some trouble. It makes for some good comedy.
Although, I do hope we see the original Fearless five, who always seem to help out Po. I do think they will make some special appearances as Po is nothing without his friends. Also, I speculate Po will learn something about how to be serious when it’s needed since he will be partnering with a no-nonsense knight. But, he will also teach the knight how to let loose a bit as pairing with a jokester and each learning something from one another. As I mentioned, not much is known yet. Keep an eye out to see when it premieres: The Dragon Knight comes out. Hopefully, Netflix or DreamWorks will give us a date soon. For now go watch the original 3 movies again, along with the show, so you can be all caught up by the time
