It seems like Sony waited for the end of their PlayStation Showcase 2023 for the biggest announcements. Before the reveal of gameplay for Spider-Man 2, they dropped something that has been rumored for a while. They announced a dedicated device that enables you to stream any game from your PS5 console using remote play over WiFi. It was internally known as Project Q. The device has an HD screen and all the functionality of a DualSense controller.

The device launches later this year, but there’s no other information about it besides that. In addition, Sony announced their first wireless earbuds. This will bring next-generation audio immersion to PlayStation and PC. They connect to smartphones wirelessly via Bluetooth. The new earbuds deliver lossless audio with low latency. These also don’t have any other details available besides that. Sony promised more details soon following the PlayStation showcase.

The PlayStation handheld might be a bit of a disappointment for people expecting a second coming of the PSP or PS Vita. This device looks like it’ll only be capable of streaming and nothing else. So for people that want a next-generation Sony handheld, you might have to keep dreaming.
