You know how back in San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Marvel teased about some mystery project they simply called G.O.D.S.? Well, now it seems that they’re finally revealing what this mystery project is. As it turns out (and to few people’s surprise), it’s a new comic book. What is it about, you might ask? Who’s writing and illustrating it, you might also ask? Well, Marvel Comics is actually answering both questions with an animated trailer just for this comic. You can watch said trailer below, and see for yourself.

Fun, Drama, and Superheroes with Acronyms?

Dr. Strange, why do you insist on occasionally behaving like a jerk?

Marvel Comics is proud to announce their new comic book adventure: G.O.D.S. with that YouTube trailer above. And…that’s basically it. Marvel Comics are being very secretive about this new comic with in this reveal. The only concrete details we know is who’s working on it. Jonathan Hickman is the writer, with Valerio Schiti as the artist. Each of them, in fact, has something to say about this new comic. You can check out both of their words below:

When I came back to Marvel a few years ago, I wrote two series bibles. The first was HOUSE OF X and the other one was G.O.D.S.. To say that I’m excited to finally be able to share this story with everyone is a massive understatement. G.O.D.S. takes place in its own special corner of the Marvel Universe — in the cracks that lie at the intersection of science and magic — and revisits some characters and concepts that we’ve reimagined for a more modern, continuity-driven audience.

Jonathan Hickman

When I was given a chance to work with Jonathan on a new project, I accepted right away. Then I discovered that we would be reimagining gods in the Marvel Universe: how they work, what they do, and how they interact with each other and humanity. It’s the kind of project that makes you weak in the knees when you think about it. Luckily, Jonathan has the gift to make even the most complex stories surprisingly simple and understandable. His pitch inspired me almost immediately. The core of the story is so perfect and clear that it swept away my anxiety and turned it into a burst of creativity.

As mysterious as G.O.D.S. is though, at least Marvel Comics has a release window for it. Apparently, we’ll see what this comic is about sometime in Fall 2023. Hopefully, Marvel Comics will give us a more specific release date later. Fortunately though, there will be a special preview of this comic on May 6, 2023 in Avengers/X-Men #1 on Free Comic Book Day. Tune back in to THS to find out more details on this when we do.

G.O.D.S.: Synopsis and Artwork

Everything surrounding this comic seems to be nothing but question marks.

Fortunately, Marvel Comics does at least have something like a synopsis for G.O.D.S. to clarify things a bit. You can check it out below:

Meet Wyn, a mysterious player in a war that exists outside of the orders we know and a vital member of an eons-old hierarchy that includes the omnipotent rulers of the universe such as Eternity, Infinity, and the Living Tribunal. After a fateful meeting with Doctor Strange, Wyn hints at something even bigger than the forces of good and evil, where the very building blocks of creation scheme and clash. It’s the beginning of a breathtaking epic at the crossroads of science and magic, one that will shatter our understanding and open our eyes to ideas beyond all that we perceive.

As a final bonus, Marvel Comics also has artwork from G.O.D.S. as one last teaser. 9 of them, to be precise. Check them out below, and see what you can make of them.
