You know how Cyberpunk 2077 is going to get a new DLC one of these days? Goes by the name of Phantom Liberty? Well, now it seems that the famed Idris Elba will be joining the cast of this DLC. How do I know this? Well, mostly because of the new official teaser trailer that popped up on YouTube as part of The Game Awards 2022 festivities. You can check it out below:

Idris Elba in the Cyber-House?

Every spy knows bars are always where you make your clandestine meetings. Where else can you get your martinis?

The official Cyberpunk 2077 YouTube account just posted this new official teaser trailer for the Phantom Liberty DLC. As you can plainly see (and hear), Idris Elba (LutherFast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw, Sonic The Hedgehog 2The Suicide Squad) will be joining the cast of this DLC. In fact, he’s basically the main feature of this teaser trailer. Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) is barely a side character in this teaser trailer. Presumably, he will get a big role in the actual DLC when we finally get to play it. But for now, it’s Elba’s show.

And apparently, his show here in this Phantom Liberty DLC will be a big one. According to CD Projekt Red themselves: Idris Elba will play veteran New United States of America agent Solomon Reed. Reed will apparently be your guide for this mission as you journey into the new Night City area of Dogtown. He will apparently be “the only person players can trust to help them fulfill an impossible mission of espionage and survival”. CD Projekt Red doesn’t elaborate any further on this, and I doubt they will. No need to spoil the DLC before we actually get to play it, after all.

Speaking of which, this new teaser trailer does give us an idea of when that will be the case. Apparently, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will make its debut sometime in 2023. CD Projekt Red doesn’t give us any more specific release date than that. Heck, they don’t even have exact pricing for this DLC yet. All we know for sure is that this DLC will be for the PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. I can only assume that CD Projekt Red has given up on the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. We’ll just have to see when the DLC comes out. You can find out more news about this on the game’s official website. Or you can tune back into THS later to get that news when we do.
