Macross Frontier Anime Films: Details

"Macross Frontier: The Wings of Farewell" theatrical poster.
Is it just me, or is that really good animation for a film poster?

Macross Frontier: The False Songstress and Macross Frontier: The Wings of Farewell are the 2 anime films of the anime series of the same name. Satelight and Eight Bit are the animation studios behind The False Songstress, with Satelight only behind The Wings of Farewell. Both anime films feature Shōji Kawamori as the director, with Hiroyuki Yoshino and Kawamori working as writers. Yoko Kanno composed the music for both anime films.

As for what those anime films are about? Well, Fathom Events has a synopsis for Macross Frontier: The False Songstress below:

“It is the year 2059. The Macross Frontier fleet is on its way towards the center of the galaxy when it encounters a hostile alien species known as the Vajra. A concert by touring popstar Sheryl Nome becomes ground zero of an attack where both flight school trainee Alto Saotome and aspiring singer Ranka Lee are caught up in the chaos.”

Fathom Events also has a synopsis for Macross Frontier: The Wings of Farewell as well below:

“In the aftermath of the events of The False Songstress, Sheryl Nome remains aboard the Macross Frontier as her health begins to rapidly deteriorate. Meanwhile, Ranka Lee has become a singing sensation in her own right, and prepares for her debut concert just as a joint military operation to hunt down the Vajra Queen gets underway.”
