Den of Thieves was a perfectly serviceable action flick. Gerard Butler seems to have that Charles Bronson or Liam Neeson touch to the action movies he stars in. Deadline is reporting that Den of Thieves 2: Pantera begins shooting in Serbia and France later this spring.

Among the returning stars include O’Shea Jackson and Meadow Williams, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson doesn’t look like he’ll return for this film. They’ll be joined by newcomer Swen Temmel. Butler returns as Big Nick, on the hunt in Europe for Donnie (Jackson Jr.), they become embroiled in the world of diamond thieves and the infamous Pather mafia. Christian Gudegast returns as Writer/Director. Like the first movie, he did research among former diamond thieves and investigators to prepare for the project.

The original movie was a success making $80 million at the global box office and garnering a cult following on home video. This first movie will have to amp up the action and intensity of the first film. Butler has gone on the record about the sequel being “a more glamorous journey” and “more fun and sexy”.
