New York Comic-Con is always full of surprises. From amazing exclusives to unbelievable cosplayers you never know what you are going to see, and for Ghostbusters fans like myself, this statement could not have been any truer. Friday night at the Ghostbusters: Afterlife panel, director Jason Reitman, his father, Producer Ivan Reitman, and Co-Writer Gil Kenan were joined by cast members Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, and Logan Kim to give Ghostbusters fans a huge NYCC surprise. No, it was not some free giveaways and new clips, it was a screening of the movie!

Ghostbusters: Afterlife Movie Review

We have seen a lot of sequel attempts in the past few years in the movie world, with many of them falling short of the high expectations they had. Well, thanks to Jason Reitman that streak is over! Ghostbusters: Afterlife hit on all cylinders. Now there is not a lot I can tell you without spoiling the movie and I won’t bore you by just going over what we all have seen in the trailers over and over. What I can tell you is The Reitmans and Co-Writer Gil Kenan put together the perfect team to pull off this sequel.

This movie had it all. Afterlife made you jump, laugh, cry, and tied in many elements from the 1984 classic without taking anything away from the current storyline. Yes, this added some fan service to the movie but it was needed to really show us what this movie was about.

My Final Thoughts

If you are a fan of the Ghostbusters this movie will hit you emotionally in more ways than one, and the main reason for this is because of the cast. The cast was amazing and worked so well together. Paul Rudd (Gary Grooberson) was, well, was Paul Rudd (what more could you want there?). Carrie Coon (Callie), Mckenna Grace (Phoebe), and Finn Wolfhard (Trevor) are really the MVPs of Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Their chemistry together felt like they have done many films together, and with the awkward humor of Phoebe, and the big brother feel from Trevor, you could not help but fall in love with this family. Also, we can’t forget about Logan Kim (Podcast). Podcast will grow on you so fast, and keep you laughing for a long time. There are so many more people that really bring this movie together but I will leave all those a surprise, not to spoil anything for you. Honestly, there is nothing that I disliked about this film, so do yourself a favor and go see it! This has been one of the best movies I have seen in a long, long time!

Ghostbusters: Afterlife

From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife will hit theaters on November 19th.
