Fena: Pirate Princess is a new anime coming to Crunchyroll and Adult Swim. Now it seems, we finally get to find out what this anime is all about, starting with a brand new trailer:

Definitely getting otome game vibes from this.

Crunchyroll and Adult Swim are proud to unveil this brand new trailer for Fena: Pirate Princess. This new trailer finally gives us a look at what the story is about. According to director Kazuto Nakazawa: he cites shojo manga as his major influence for this show. Apparently, it “made [him] want to make an anime with a flavor of Shojo manga in it”. He further adds that while the anime will have action and adventure in it, at its core it is “basically a love story”. Yep, sounds like a shojo manga here.

Now that I think about it: even Fena’s design looks a bit shojo-ey.

Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t give us a release date for Fena: Pirate Princess. All we have is a vague statement at the end of the trailer of this anime “coming this summer”. It’s not much, but it’s all we have to go on at the moment.

My only question is: when does the fluffy doggy come in?

But that’s not all. During the Annecy International Film Festival, Fena: Pirate Princess got selected as a Work in Progress series, complete with a panel featuring director Kazuto Nakazawa and producer Rui Kuroki from studio Production I.G.. That panel also shared quite a bit of character and production art. Here are some examples…actually, you know what? Let me give you the full list:

Crunchyroll and Adult Swim have released a new trailer for Fena: Pirate Princess. It shows off a bit more of the story, along with the pirates and ninjas. Heck, they’ve even given us a bunch of character and production art to admire. Now all that’s left is to wait for Summer 2021 before we can finally see what this anime is all about.
