Though the pandemic forced Broadway to go dark, you’ll be able to return to theatres soon. And two Disney shows will resume with some added incentives for you to book your tickets.

“After 18 months of being apart we are thrilled to welcome our audiences back and are proud to introduce these unique benefits to make buying Broadway tickets risk-free, flexible and affordable,” said Thomas Schumacher, President & Producer at Disney Theatrical Productions.

So when fans book tickets to see The Lion King or Aladdin, things will look a little different than before. Guests will have the ability to exchange their tickets for a different day—or even cancel them—at no extra charge, all the way up to the day of the performance. Plus, Disney itself will pay 100% of Ticketmaster service and order fees (a huge annoyance for anyone who’s ever used Ticketmaster).

This marks a major shift in the Broadway ticketing system. Traditionally, theatre-goers had two approaches to grabbing tickets: advance purchase (which doesn’t give flexibility if your plans change) or last-minute options like the TKTS booth or show lotteries (frequently cheaper, but don’t allow you to plan ahead). Disney’s new plan offers a unique combination of planning and flexibility. For now, Disney will cover Ticketmaster fees and allow free flexible changes/cancellations for performances through August 7, 2022.

But wait, there’s more! Disney will also launch Double the Magic, a two-show package. So you can grab tickets to both The Lion King and Aladdin for as low as $149 total. This deal is meant to kick off Broadway’s return, so if you want to book a ticket package, do it soon! Double the Magic only runs through July 1, 2021.

The Lion King returns to Broadway’s Minskoff Theater on September 14. Aladdin resumes performances at the New Amsterdam Theater on September 28. You can grab tickets now and learn more at disneyonbroadway.com.
