Rumor: Robert Downey Jr. As Thrawn?

Well, it seems like just about anywhere we go on social media we keep seeing the same rumor popping up over and over again. No, not the one where Disney is going to remove the sequels from the canon timeline, sorry people. It’s the one about Robert Downey Jr. playing the live-action version of Thrawn.

Could We See Robert Downey Junior As Thrawn?

Yes, I know there is nothing out there officially from Disney saying Robert Downey Jr. is going to be playing Thrawn. Of course, that hasn’t stop sites reporting on this rumor that seems to be coming from an entertainment site call Pirates & Princesses. According to Pirates & Princesses, Robert Downey Jr. is in serious talks to join the Star Wars Universe. Of course, they don’t list where they got their source from but it does make you wonder a little if he would make a good Thrawn.

My Thoughts

Could we see Robert Downey Jr. as Thrawn? Yeah, I think it could happen. I mean why wouldn’t he want to do it? We already know that Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. work well together and already have a good relationship. So yes, it could be possible, and with the Thrawn name drop in The Mandalorian: The Jedi, he will probably be showing up in a series at some point. But could we like Thrawn with a different voice?

Of course, for me, it was strange at first hearing the different voice from Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson), but the story solved that problem petty quickly and I didn’t think about it again. So I’m sure if someone other than Lars Mikkelsen (Thrawn Voice Actor) took that role it would work as long as the story is good. But with all this being said I hope that Lars Mikkelsen gets the part, I mean he is Thrawn!
