Ridley Scott is bringing his next sci-fi epic to streaming. Raised By Wolves hits HBO Max next month.

The series spans ten episodes; Scott directed the first two. That makes the series Scott’s directorial debut for American audiences. He also produces the series under his banner Scott Free Productions.

Raised By Wolves follows two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious planet. But as the growing colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn controlling belief is a difficult – and dangerous – task.

Check out the trailer for the show below:

Based on the trailer, Raised By Wolves promises lots of sci-fi action. The Big Bad Wolf fairytale voiceover paired with the visuals of explosions and fights breaking out gives it a darkly ominous tone. Combined with the series synopsis involving religious infighting, it seems like Raised By Wolves will be a sci-fi series focused on the darker sides of humanity.

(That’s not to say it won’t also have plenty of bizarre and creepy non-human elements too. There’s a freaky Gollum-like something crawling around in the trailer, too.)

The cast includes Amanda Collin, Abubakar Salim, Winta McGrath, Niamh Algar, Jordan Loughran, Matias Varela, Felix Jamieson, Ethan Hazzard, Aasiya Shah, Ivy Wong, and Travis Fimmel.

In addition to the trailer, HBO Max also released a poster for the series:
