Donald Glover may reprise his role as Lando Calrissian for a Disney+ series.

Glover played Lando in the feature film Solo: A Star Wars Story. The movie acted as a sort of prequel to the main Star Wars saga, following the adventures of a young Han Solo. Solo itself didn’t exceed expectations at the box office, but overall fans seemed to enjoy Glover’s portrayal of a young Lando.

While the movie’s lack of success means LucasFilm may not be keen to make a sequel, Disney+’s expansion could give Glover’s Lando a new life on streaming. Now, rumors are swirling that Glover may reprise his role for a Disney+ series.

Kessel Run Transmissions dropped the news that Glover was in negotiations with LucasFilm. Nothing yet has been confirmed, but the report fits in with other rumors earlier this year that Glover wanted to play Lando again.

Since we don’t know yet the extent of the potential deal, we can only speculate as to the significance of Glover’s deal. Some reports indicate Disney+ may be planning a Lando-centric series, with Glover as the lead. Others indicate he may appear in a guest capacity for an existing series like The Mandalorian. (Although the timeline for that may not be quite right.)

Glover vs. Williams

Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian and Harrison Ford as Han Solo

Billy Dee Williams – the original Lando Calrissian – recently re-entered the Star Wars universe. Williams appeared as Lando in The Rise of Skywalker. In the film, Lando pledges to help the children who defected from the First Order track down their origins. In other words – there’s definitely room to expand William’s role into a series.

If Disney+ did give Lando his own series, it could even bring in both Glover and Williams to play the role if the series time jumped to different points in Lando’s life.

More Star Wars on Disney+

Disney+ definitely makes Star Wars a priority on its platform. Beyond the hit series The Mandalorian, the streamer has a number of other projects in the works. It recently announced The Bad Batch, a spinoff of The Clone Wars.

And Glover isn’t the only returning star Disney+ is rumored to be courting. Hayden Christensen may reappear as Anakin Skywalker in the Obi-Wan series.

What do you think? Would you watch Glover in a Lando Calrissian series?
