The entire world has changed due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. It’s not easy living in a time of a health crisis that effects so many and has taken so many lives. How we each cope with what’s happening, however, is a very personal choice. While we certainly shouldn’t make light of it, finding some fun and frivolity in these challenging times may be essential to maintaining some semblance of sanity. Thus, the Interwebs are chocked full of memes, quizzes, “what-ifs” and “who would you want to be quarantined with” questions. So today we add our thoughts to mix. With whom would we want to be quarantined? Our Star Wars quarantine companion would be none other than Dave Filoni.

Why him? Well, there are probably far more reasons than we can post in one article, but we’ll hit the highlights. First and foremost, Dave Filoni is the new master, formerly apprenticed to the father of Star Wars himself, George Lucas. The two worked hand in hand together on Star Wars: The Clone Wars when it began in 2008. Poke fun at the prequel films all you want, but Lucas was still a boundless wealth of Star Wars storytelling. Filoni absorbed it all like a sponge. But he didn’t just copy or recycle ideas. He expanded. He expounded. And most importantly, he adapted.

Can you imagine being quarantined with Filoni? To have the opportunity to step into the mind of today’s greatest Star Wars storyteller? Our list of questions would be endless. This is, after all, the man who brought us The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, reintroduced Thrawn into canon, and created one of the most popular characters in the franchise in Ahsoka Tano. Dave Filoni truly is a remarkable storyteller and artist. He is a living embodiment of what Star Wars is at its heart.

Ask anyone who’s worked with him, whether in the animated series or with his live-action debut with The Mandalorian, and you’ll get the same response. Dave Filoni is genuine, down-to-earth, and engaging. He’s always happy to talk. Best of all, he’s always willing to listen. As Star Wars fans, we couldn’t think of anyone better with whom to spend some quality quarantine time.

How about you? Which Star Wars mind would you love to chat with while quarantined? Let us know who, and why, in the comments below. And please; stay healthy and safe out there.

May the Force be with you.
