Boom! studios in association with IDW is at it again with another crossover after the successful Power Rangers / Justice League event! Our teenagers with attitude and mutant ninjas that live in the sewers are going to hit the pages coming visit December 2019. But remember, this is the first time that the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (MMPR) and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) turtles have met.

When franchises collide: MMPR v. TMNT

Back during in the original Saban Era the Rangers and the Ninja Turtles met on Power Rangers in Space. It’s a very interesting, if not poorly done, crossover when the at the time the Ninja Turtles The Next Mutation live-action series and Power Rangers were both owned at the time by Haim Saban. I believe it was done to try and boost the ratings of the horrid Ninja Turtles “The Next Mutation” series. We all remember it fondly but this should have been a two-parter. The timing was so off and it was just as campy as a standard Next Mutation episode.

Here’s our second chance

Not much is known about how the story is going to play out or what the tone of the TMNT is going to be like. For now, we do know that Tommy is in New York City and has teamed up with Shred-Head and the Foot. Suddenly the Rangers are confronted by the Turtles themselves! Who’s going to throw the first kick?! Who’s going to get the shell knocked out of them? Can they save the world and STILL HAVE TIME FOR PIZZA!!!!

The real heroes of MMPR v. TMNT!

Ryan Parrott who is currently working oh BOTH MMPR and GGPR series is also writing this epic event!

“Honestly, I’m pretty certain keeping this project a secret has taken years off my life. These two iconic franchises were my TV parents, each teaching me valuable life lessons thirty minutes at a time. The Power Rangers and the Ninja Turtles are too insanely awesome not to bring together. I mean, they’re both color-coded teenage martial artists who fight monsters! It just makes too much sense! A huge thank you to Hasbro and Nickelodeon for letting me play with so many of their wonderful toys, as it is truly an honor to be a part of such an exciting crossover. I’m the luckiest kid in the world, and I can not wait for you all to see what we’ve been putting together.”

Simone di Meo, also working on Boom! Studios MMPR comics, will lend his hand to the page as drawing and immortalizing the MMPR and TMNT:

“It’s an honor to be able to work on this amazing project. I’m very happy to be a part of this, one of the crossovers I’ve been waiting for since I was a kid. Drawing these two teams together is a dream come true!”

TMNT v. MMPR hits shelves in December

Copies will hit store shelves in early December. We know with ranger comics we have several variant covers and this is no different. Currently, for the 5 issue run, we know of the 1st main cover and 4 variant covers using the Turtles in the background holding the Red Ranger helmet.
