WWE Raw Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch, speaks on WWE using her off-screen relationship in on-screen storylines.
On May 13 Seth Rollins confirmed he was dating Lynch. This was a simple thing and could have been forgotten about. However, WWE is running with this and has incorporated it into Rollins and Lynch’s storylines.
WWE Using Relationships For Rollins And Lynch Storylines
On this week’s Raw Lynch ran in and attacked Evans who low-blowed her man. No one low-blows The Man’s man without consequences. This altercation led to a match being announced shortly after.
At Extreme Rules on July 14 WWE Universal Champion Rollins and WWE Raw Women’s Champion will form a tag team to face off with Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans. The match will be winner takes all. If Corbin and Evans win then they win their respective title.
They make an amazing couple, but what does Lynch think of how public their relationship has been made? In a recent interview with Guidelive she spoke on just that.
“That’s something that came about recently,” Lynch revealed. “I think seeing the potential to have two top stars fighting side by side as champions is something that we couldn’t really ignore, so here we are,” Lynch said.

Lynch Is Less Than Enthused
Lynch doesn’t sound too excited about the situation. I don’t blame her, but it is too late now. Hopefully WWE will move away from using their relationship in future storylines.
However, this is not the first time WWE has used off-screen romance on TV. Some other relationships exploited…wait I mean used on TV are Triple H and Steph, Edge and Matt Hardy and Lita and John Cena and Nikki Bella. Out of these three couples I thought of off the top of my head only one of these couples are still together. Having the world watch your relationship can’t be easy.
I really hope they make it I really do. These two are two of my favorite wrestlers. However, with all the focus on the couple and it being mentioned constantly and being part of storylines it is a lot of pressure. Their relationship could not be strong enough yet to survive this kind of strain.

Every time real-life couples are used in storylines I always think about something Lance Storm mentions occasionally. When Storm was in WCW he got some advice from one part of the most famous wrestling couple of all-time, Macho Man Randy Savage.
