You don’t get to be the longest running, scripted show in prime-time television history by accident. This year will mark the thirty year anniversary of The Simpsons debuting on Fox. How fitting, then, that Disney and Fox completed their merger earlier this year. That multi-billion-dollar transaction paved the way to even bigger things for Matt Groening’s brainchild. I know, that’s a tall feat given the show’s decades-long success. Nevertheless, appearing at the D23 Expo this year? Kind of a big deal.

That’s right, The Simpsons will make their Disney debut at the D23 Expo 2019 this year. The convention will take place in Anaheim from August 23-25 and organizers self-describe the event as the “largest Disney fan event in the world.” This time around, The Simpsons get to join the fun!

D23 Expo 2019 to feature The Simpsons

The long-running animated series won’t just get recognition at the expo; it’s also getting its own, dedicated panel. On August 23 (Saturday) at 10 am in the D23 Expo Arena, lucky fans will get to hear from The Simpsons all-stars as they discuss the show’s history and its upcoming, record-breaking, thirty first season. Attending the panel are:

  • Creator Matt Groening;
  • Executive Producer Matt Selman;
  • Executive Producer Al Jean;
  • Supervising Director Mike B. Anderson;
  • Nancy Cartwright (Bart Simpson; Maggie Simpson; and Nelson Muntz, among others); and
  • Yeardley Smith (Lisa Simpson)

Fans of The Simpsons will truly be in for a delight, as the panel will feature “lots of surprises” including an exclusive collectible for every fan in attendance. Better yet, there will be a one-hour autograph session immediately following the panel. There you’ll have a chance to meet all the panelists and have them sign another exclusive, a mini-poster, to commemorate the occasion.
