The Men’s Royal Rumble certainly provided us with numerous surprises. From Jeff Jarrett to various stars from NXT, there was someone from every brand within the WWE Universe.
Ever brand, that is, except for 205 Live.
“The Soul of 205 Live” Cedric Alexander took to Twitter to let the world know how disappointed he was that there were no 205 Live entrants in the men’s Royal Rumble match:
Frankly, I don’t blame him at all.
Cedric Alexander Unhappy About Men’s Royal Rumble Roster
This year’s match saw a lot of fresh new faces. Pete Dunne, Mustafa Ali, Johnny Gargano, and Aleister Black all made their rumble match debuts. NXT and NXT:UK were represented; 205 Live was nowhere to be found. “The Heart of 205 Live” has moved on, and is now part of the Smackdown Live roster. In the mind of Cedric Alexander, however, that hardly counts.
And it shouldn’t. If we’re being honest, there were a couple of head scratchers this year. Did we need to comedy entrants in Curt Hawkins and No Way Jose? Probably not. The event producers could easily have given one of those spots to someone from the 205 Live roster. Noam Dar, TJP, Kalisto, and Cedric Alexander himself. Anyone from that roster would have been better than what we got, which was nothing.
The only thing we can hope is that Cedric’s Twitter comments gain enough ground and forces WWE’s hand to do something. Maybe we’ll see
a 205 Royal Rumble in the coming weeks. Perhaps the winner will even get a title shot at WrestleMania 35. We know for the past couple of weeks that Drake Maverick has been wanting to add new talent, so this could be an interesting way to showcase some of the newest signees to WWE.
That could be a pipe dream, but we’ve seen bigger things happen because a wrestler tweeted out their frustration before. We will just have to wait to see if anything comes of it.
