Horizon Zero Dawn may be one of the biggest video game IPs in modern times. It’s not hard to see why either. Aloy’s journey into an Earth far in the future has captivated a truly massive audience and fandom with the game’s lush world, vibrant culture, and giant robot dinosaurs stomping around. So much so that the action role-playing game by Guerilla Games has spawned a fully fledged sequel in the form of Horizon Forbidden West, with yet another sequel in the works. Oh, and not just that either. Don’t forget the VR spinoff game, the Lego spinoff game, and the various comic book spinoffs too.
All in all, Horizon Zero Dawn looks like a franchise that’s here to stay. Especially since the game is now finally, at long last, getting a film adaptation. Don’t believe me? I wouldn’t blame you, especially with the plans for a TV adaptation in cooperation with Netflix falling through a while back. Fortunately, it looks like we are well and truly getting to see Aloy on the big screen…hopefully.
Horizon Zero Dawn Film Adaptation: Details
Variety has reported that at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025, Sony officially announced that Horizon Zero Dawn will be finally getting a film adaptation at long last. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be that much info about this upcoming film.
All we know so far is that Columbia Pictures and Sony PlayStation will be collaborating to work on this planned film adaptation, and that’s it. We know nothing else thus far. No director or production crew, no cast, and definitely not even a release window. We will just have to wait for Sony to give us that info at a later date.
Tune back in to THS to find out more about this upcoming Horizon Zero Dawn film adaptation and other video game film and TV adaptations when we do.
