The upcoming Ahsoka series for Disney+ will feature Rosario Dawson as the titular Ahsoka Tano. Now, according to One Take News, Temuera Morrison will portray Captain Rex in the show. He previously played Rex and other Clones in The Clone Wars TV series.
Ahsoka: Temuera Morrison Reporting Back for Duty?
According to them: Morrison will play Rex. Yes, it seems that Morrison will play this decorated clone captain (later commander), and close friend of the titular Togruta Jedi. It’s quite fitting really, since all the clone troopers are clones of Jango Fett, who Morrison also played in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones all the way back in 2002. Thus, in a weird way, Morrison is reprising his old role in a pretty meta way.
Here’s the synopsis for Ahsoka.
Set after the fall of the Empire, “Ahsoka” follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a
vulnerable galaxy
Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Hayden Christensen, Eman Esfandi, Ivanna Sakhno, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, the late Ray Stevenson, and Lars Mikkelsen. The series is currently slated to come out in August 2023.
It does beg the question as to whether Temuera Morrison will play any other clones in Ahsoka. Given that every clone is identical to Rex, it does make a certain amount of sense. It would even make a most amusingly meta scene for Morrison to have conversations with himself here. Unfortunately, they don’t mention anything about whether Morrison will play any roles other than Rex. That’s something we’ll have to wait for Disney and Lucasfilm to clarify later.
