The Rising of the Shield Hero will soon conclude its second season with its grand finale. To hype up that finale, Crunchyroll has released a new trailer celebrating all of the previous seasons of the anime. Check it out below:

The Recap of the Shield Hero?

See, this is what a recap episode should be: a 1:30 long trailer. Not an entire 24-minute-long episode.

Crunchyroll is here to remind everyone that the season 2 finale for The Rising of the Shield Hero will soon make its debut. Specifically: that “soon” is Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 9:00 am ET / 6:00 am PT. Note that this finale will be in the original Japanese audio with English subtitles though. The English dub version of the said finale will premiere on Wednesday, July 27 at 5:00 pm ET / 2:00 pm PT. Those who watch the English dub version will have to wait a month to find out what happens in the said finale. If you want an idea of what the English dub sounds like (for those of you who only watch the English subs as is right), you can check out the English dub recap trailer below:

RIP Billy Kametz. Your Naofumi voice shall be missed.

The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2: Details

"The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2" key art.
A key art as dark as the anime is. How fitting.

The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2 is the second season of the anime adaptation of the dark fantasy isekai light novels of the same name by Aneko Yusagi. Kinema Citrus (Made in Abyss, Star Wars: Visions – The Village Bride) and South Korean studio DR Movie (Chi’s Sweet Home, Avatar: The Last Airbender) are the animation studios behind season 2 of the anime. Masato Jinbo directs season 2, with Keigo Koyonagi writing. Kevin Penkin composed the music for both seasons. Lastly, Crunchyroll licensed the anime for its NA release.

As for what The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2 is about? Well, Crunchyroll has an official synopsis for us today. Check it out below:

“Learning that people are hurting, Naofumi vows to fight. But before he can help, word comes that the Spirit Tortoise is free. Assembling Raphtalia and Filo, they uncover scary news—this was no accident. Someone deliberately unleashed the legendary beast!”

You can watch both seasons of The Rising of the Shield Hero on either Crunchyroll or Funimation. Both anime streaming services have both the original Japanese audio with subtitles or dubs in various languages (including English), so you’re spoiled for choice here.
