All of the Mad Max films, including this latest Furiosa prequel, take place in a post-apocalyptic Australia. So am I the only one who finds it ironic that Furiosa is helping Australia avoid that particular future?

This bit of Furiosa news comes to us directly from the Twitter page of Gladys Berejiklian. Some of you may wonder who she is. Well, as it turns out, Gladys Berejiklian is an Australian politician who is currently the 45th and current Premier of the Australian state of New South Wales. New South Wales just happens to be the state where the filming for Furiosa is taking place. So it makes a lot sense why Berejiklian is the one telling us this bit of news.

Furiosa: The Best Thing for Australia’s Economy

So great, even Australia’s politicians are getting in on it.

As for what exactly Gladys Berejiklian wants to tell us, you’d be amazed. Apparently, the production of Furiosa will make it the biggest film production to take place in Australia. The production process will support more than 850 local jobs, and will bring in $350 million into the Australian economy. In order words, it’s one of the biggest injections of money into Australia in history. At the very least, it’ll mean that Australia is very unlikely to go the Mad Max route in the foreseeable future.

Not only that, but the sheer scale of Furiosa‘s production seems to suggest a really big budget effort. While we have no word as to what the movie will be about aside from its status as a prequel to Max Mad: Fury Road, it’s probably going to end up being just as spectacular, if not more so. And that’s not even getting into the famous actors and actresses that will feature in it, including Anna Taylor-Joy as a young Furiosa (instead of Charlize Theron), and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman) in unspecified roles. With such an ensemble cast, we can only imagine what the final film will look like.

Conclusion

Furiosa‘s production is one of the best things to happen to Australia, and it’s no wonder. With the production injecting all of that money into Australia’s economy, the future is looking brighter and brighter for them, and more and more exciting for us Mad Max fans. The film itself has a scheduled release date of June 23, 2023; so we have plenty of time for them to build up the hype for us.
