Bad Boys: Ride Or Die was always expected to do well at the box office; but we have our first inkling as the movie made $5.9 million in previews on Thursday night screenings.
As per Deadline, the movie scored $5.875 million in domestic Thursday night previews; which run from 3 PM until the end of the day. This is marginally less than Bad Boys for Life, which scored $6.36 million in its Thursday night previews.
Bad Boys: Ride Or Die Breathes New Life Into Fledgling Box Office
We’ve seen a slow box office as of late due to residual issues from the strikes; but Bad Boys: Ride Or Die is breathing new life into a struggling industry. Not only is it doing well commercially, but it has a 65% critic score and a 97% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Bad Boys: Ride Or Die is looking to earn at least $40 million this weekend; however the studio has it tracking for $50 million to $60 million. It will really depend on how audiences show up for the movie this weekend; but it’s certainly a strong start for the Bad Boys: Ride Or Die.
The Watchers is the other new release in previews, and it scored only $1 million in previews. This is certainly impacted by low review scores; audience scores are also quite low for the Ishana Shyamalan debut. It likely will score in second or third place; but it’s a humbling debut for a filmmaker with a pedigree of success from her family. The Wathers was projected to make $8 million to $10 million, and it still could muster that. However, with no clear indication of the budget; it’s hard to determine if the movie will be considered a financial success or not.
