Microsoft and Xbox have had a decent year when it comes to gaming news. They’ve acquired Activision Blizzard and Game Pass is growing each and every day, however, besides Starfield, they haven’t had that killer triple-A title to satisfy long-time Xbox fans. The Gears of War series was one that helped launch the Xbox 360 into the stratosphere, and it continued with the Xbox One generation.
The last game in the series was Gears 5, which The Coalition worked on. The developer has been quite silent about what their next project is, but it’s widely rumored to be Gears of War 6. One member of their team, level designer Benjamin Huyghe, had a small teaser of what could be coming for the developer and Gears 6 in 2024.
Now, that’s not really any sort of confirmation, but coming from a high-ranking member of the dev team, it means something. It’s nothing specific or definitive, but telling fans to see you in 2024 with the hashtag Gearsfam, should mean a little something.
The only thing we really know about The Coalition’s latest game is that it’s being made with Unreal Engine 5. They’ve got plenty of experience working with the Unreal Engine from their previous games. Other reports have said that previously, they were working on something smaller to get used to Unreal 5, but that they’ve shifted focus to a new Gears of War game.
While Gears of War 6 hasn’t been officially confirmed for sure, this is still exciting for Gears fans going into 2024. The only thing that’s certain is that if it comes out in 2024, it’ll be available on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Gears of War 5 left the series off with Kait Diaz, who was trying to find the origin of the Locust Horde.
