Jason Bourne isn’t done on the big screen after all. According to Deadline, All Quiet On The Western Front director Edward Berger has found his next picture. Universal Pictures is looking to get back into the Bourne business with early development on a new installment. Berger is is in negotiations to oversee development and direct the film.
Sources say there is no script yet and the film is about as early in development as you can get. Berger has been a hot name in Hollywood since his triumphant success with All Quiet. Berger is the only talent currently figured on-board, but sources also say that Matt Damon could be tapped for another shot as Jason Bourne. He’s played the character in four of the five films, only leaving when Jeremy Renner took over for The Bourne Legacy.
All of this is still up in the air officially, with no confirmation from Universal Pictures. Bourne is one of their most successful IPs at the box office, like the Fast and Furious franchise. They’ve been trying to lean more into the action genre and Bourne is a great way to do that.
We’ll have to see how this all turns out, as Berger hasn’t officially closed his deal either. For now, that’s all we know about this new entry in the long-running action franchise.
We’ll keep you updated as we get more news.
