Fans of indie games might recall the March 30, 2023 release of Dredge. I mean, how much more indie can you get than a horror fishing game? And yet, based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews it’s getting, it’s also pretty clear this odd combination of genres is a winning combo. Enough that you can understand why people are so excited for the release of this The Pale Reach DLC. Don’t believe me? Then why not check out the launch trailer below, and see if you’re brave enough to venture out into the frozen wastes for some choice fish?

Dredge: The Pale Reach DLC ~ Release Details

Despite what this trailer insists, that’s no narwhal.

Developer Black Salt Games and publisher Team17 are proud to announce that Dredge: The Pale Reach is now live. As of November 16, 2023; you can now finally play this first DLC expansion to the base game. I don’t really count Blackstone Key as an expansion. It’s more like a bunch of free items that you pay for. No, The Pale Reach is a true expansion to the game. It adds an entirely new frozen biome to the map, as well as a bunch of new fish to catch. Oh, and of course: new monsters to dodge while you’re trying to catch those new fish. You can see in the launch trailer above on YouTube that at least one of these new monsters is an apparent “narwhal”. It’s basically only a narwhal insofar as they both have a single horn/tusk, but well, at least it’s appropriately fearsome for the game.

Dredge: The Pale Reach has a retail price of $5.99. You can purchase this DLC straight from the game’s official website, where it’s available for PC (via Steam or GOG.com), PS4 or PS5, Xbox One or Xbox Series S/X, or Nintendo Switch.
