Fans of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away might be aware that there was recently a stage play adaptation of that classic anime film called Spirited Away: Live on Stage. And I do mean it when I say “recently”. That stage play made its world premiere debut in Tokyo only just back in February 2022. Based on what critics are saying about it, this stage play seems to be a hit. So much so that it’s soon-ish going to get a European debut. Thus, you can understand now why this stage play is coming to home video. All thanks to GKIDS, no less. Don’t believe me? Spirited Away: Live on Stage ~ Details

The moment Spirited Away becomes a musical.

GKIDS is proud to announce that they’re bringing Spirited Away: Live on Stage to home video. This home video release will be for digital download and Blu-ray only. Both versions will be available to download/purchase on November 14, 2023. That’s only a little more than a month away as of this writing, so you won’t have long to wait. However, if you still can’t wait, then you can preorder this home video release right now either from GKIDS themselves or from Shout! Factory. Be aware that both offer a preorder discount that drops the price down to $23.99 from its $29.98 retail price. So if you want save a bit of money, this preorder might be the thing for you.

Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be anything in the way of bonus features for Spirited Away: Live on Stage. All we’re getting is the stage play adaptation, and that’s it. Both of them, actually, since there were two separate versions of this stage play, and GKIDS is giving us both of them. They even have the voice cast for both versions to prove it.
