Following a very public falling out and feud with Vin Diesel, it looks like Dwayne Johnson has put all that behind him. Universal has announced that Johnson will make his return to the Fast & Furious franchise in an untitled movie. Johnson confirmed the news with a video from his social media. Check out the announcement below.

Note that this is a separate film from the main line series that just saw Fast X and now has Fast X: Part II on the way. There’s still an option for him to appear in that film and this one. Sources close to the development say that this isn’t a sequel to Hobbs & Shaw but it’s own separate film. The film is based on a screenplay from Chris Morgan.

Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia will produce with Seven Bucks Productions along with Vin Diesel and Samantha Vincent from One Race Films.

Johnson’s last full appearance in the Fast & Furious series was in Hobbs & Shaw, which was number one at the box office for a month straight and grossed more than $750 million worldwide. Chris Morgan has produced and or written films in the Fast & Furious series including Fast X, Fate of the Furious, Hobbs & Shaw, Fast & Furious 6, Fast Five, Fast & Furious, and The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift.

We’ll have to see how this story develops as we get more information about the movie.
