This summer, visit the vibrant, colorful world of Element City in Pixar’s latest feature, Elemental

The film follows Ember, who’s always stayed close to home in Firetown. But as she finally ventures out of her comfort zone, she’ll explore the beauty of the world around her. (And maybe fall in love in along the way.) Check out the trailer for Elemental below:

The featured characters in the film include:

  • Ember (voiced by Leah Lewis), a clever 20-something fire woman with a great sense of humor who loves her family but can be hot-headed at times.
  • Wade (voiced by Mamoudou Athie), an observant, empathetic, 20-something water guy who is not afraid to show his emotions—in fact, his emotions are hard to miss.
  • Clod (voiced by Mason Wertheimer), a young, street-smart earth kid with a gentle heart who lives in Firetown and tends to show up whenever Ember is around.
  • Gale (voiced by Wendi McLendon-Covey), an air element with a big personality, a lot of bluster, and a fluffy pink complexion who is a serious superfan of an Air Ball team called the Windbreakers.

The voice cast also includes Ronnie del Carmen as Ember’s soon-to-be retired dad, Bernie; Shila Ommi as Ember’s love-seeking mom, Cinder; Catherine O’Hara as Wade’s welcoming mom, Brook; and Joe Pera as an overgrown city bureaucrat, Fern. Peter Sohn directs.

Elemental premieres exclusively in theaters June 16.

Pixar Preview: ‘Elemental’ Will Screen With An ‘Up’ Short

In addition to the magical new world of Elemental, Pixar fans will see the return of the much-beloved pre-film shorts this summer. Disney revealed today that Elemental will be preceded by “Carl’s Date.”

The new short catches up with Carl Fredricksen, from the Pixar original film Up. “Carl’s Date” finds Carl (voice of Ed Asner) reluctantly agreeing to go on a date with a lady friend—but admittedly with no idea how dating works these days. Ever the helpful friend, Dug steps in to calm Carl’s pre-date jitters and offer some tried-and-true tips for making friends—if you’re a dog.

You can watch “Carl’s Date” in theaters with Elemental starting June 16. Until then, check back to THS for more Disney updates.
