From scruffy smuggler in a space opera to bullwhip-cracking treasure hunter to CIA agent in a military-political thriller, Harrison Ford has played many roles over his 59 years of acting. Heck, he’s even once played the President of the United States in Air Force One (1997) once. Which might explain why Marvel Studios is tapping Ford to play the US President once more for Captain America: New World Order.

I’ll be waiting for Ford to say his iconic “Get off my plane” line in this new Captain America film.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige talked about the upcoming Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It’s in the second half of the interview where Feige finally talks about Captain American: New World Order. Specifically: the role of Harrison Ford in it.

According to Feige, Harrison Ford will play President Thaddeus Ross in Captain America: New World Order. He’ll be taking over from William Hurt after Hurt passed away back in March 2022. Aside from that though, we don’t really know what Ford’s portray of this incarnation of Ross will be like. Although, note that Ross is typically a villain in most Marvel stories. Thus, there’s a good chance Ford will play a villainous US President in this upcoming film. You can read Feige’s exact words on the subject of Ford in the MCU below:

We start filming relatively soon. I’m sure anyone you’ve ever talked with about Harrison Ford says this, but it’s unbelievable that we get to meet and talk with him and that he’s embracing this role. He’s tireless with the amount of work that he does. This is certainly a big part for Thaddeus Ross. He’s the president of the United States in the film. And with Harrison, you think about Air Force One, and you think about some of his confrontations with the president in Clear and Present Danger. There’s a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson. They have a history together, but in this film, we’ll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the president of the United States in a way that is just incredible.

This has been a dream for years, ever since Jon Favreau cast Harrison Ford in Cowboys and Aliens. I was always very jealous of that, so to have him finally in the MCU is just incredible. It’s like, I can cross that off the wishlist.

Either way, we’ll find out when Captain America: New World Order releases on May 3, 2024 on Disney+. Tune back into THS later to find out more info about this when we do.
